AI is an increasing problem throughout the world and can certainly cause a disturbance in the work place, enough to worry current college students while working through their majors. It can be a large concern for many when considering future professions and weather or not their job could potentially be replaced by
AI.
Especially in this day and age, it can be very tempting to replace job with AI, as you can almost completely eliminate human error and you don't have to worry about paying a robot a livable wage, so it almost completely eliminates any extra costs as well.
Conversely, in jobs that relate to communications, it can take away the most unique aspect of it which is human communication and interaction. My major is Sports Media and I might in the future add in a minor in Sports Management.
With my major I intend to work in sports and coach rowing, hopefully coaching and directing a large high school club team or coaching college rowing. Rowing in and of itself is a huge teamwork sport, as you cannot be successful if you don't know basic communication skills such as leadership, communication, and conflict management.
These fundamental skills I have learned in my nine years of doing the sport, I believe cannot be replaced in the coaching workforce. I think the concern of
AI replacing coaches would work better for larger, more popular sports and ones that work on more of an individual level. Examples of this could be with individual video review critiques of game play, creating training plans, and reducing administrative burdens. While I think reducing administrative burdens is definitely applicable, rowing is incredibly niche and there are so many variables to coaching rowing, I don't think it is as much of a concern as in other job fields.
